MILES DAVIS HOSTED THE FIRST LEGO LEAGUE REGIONAL COMPETITION
On December 10, 2011, Miles Davis hosted the FLL regional competition. Lego teams from many schools and organizations from Illinois competed in this event. The theme for this year was Food Factor. The challenge was to investigate food and find a way to improve its safe delivery. |

Miles Davis Magnet has a Green thumb......
Miles Davis Magnet Academy will receive a G3 grant funded greenhouse on the school premises. This greenhouse will be used to create and support a school garden. The garden will provide teachers with an opportunity to integrate the gardens into the curriculum, use art creatively in the landscape, instill an environmental ethic and incorporate physical activity as a regular daily activity. |

8th grade parents who have not received their child's promotion letters are invited to attend a brief meeting to discuss the promotion policy. |

Our basketball team does it again!
Not only does MDMA have a case full of educational trophies and accolades, we are also busting at the seams with athletic trophies. MDMA's basketball team placed 1st at Robichaux Park Basketball Championships Mr. Gaston was awarded the Coach of the Year Award and Luwane Pipkins was awarded MVP. We also placed 2nd at Saint Sabina's Basketball Championship. |

Miles Davis Magnet Academy hosts Little Engineers Community Fair
Students and parents were invited to participate in the Little Engineers Community Fair on April 2, 2011. Parents designed and made products with their children, met Engineering students and played math and science games together. |

Miles Davis Magnet particpates in the Annual Engineering Open House at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois
On March 12, 2011, several teams from MDMA competed in the Middle School Design Competition which is held annually at U of I in Champaign. Students raced their mouse trap cars they designed and built at school with other participating teams from other schools around the state. Congratulations to Brianna Brown and Lauryn Hill; their design came in 2nd Place for travelling the furthest distance. Miles Davis Magnet Academy will like to thank Ms. Earles and the University of Illinois for inviting us to participate in their Open House festivities. |
